Vito Rotolo, songwriter and guitarist, is at the heart of this conversation on the theme: roots, emotions and songs. The dialogue retraces experiences, choices and reflections that emerged during the interview, leaving room for the guest’s voice.

The beginnings and passion

When did you start your musical journey? Was he born by chance or by passion?

Rotolo: Both, because I've always been passionate about music. As a child, I listened to music to the stereo in my room with my sister Doriana: the music of the early 2000s, various bands like “Le Vibrazioni”, “Lunapop”, “Negramaro”. It is in fact that then I started the guitar studio at middle school then I chose to enroll in two music schools, one first in middle school then in high school at the music-cultural association “Il Gruppetto” in Mottola, where I started the modern guitar studio.

I've been fond of singing at age 16. My first song “Straniero” and is inspired by the story of a friend who was in Afghanistan.

How decisive was music in your life?

Rotolo: Music has been decisive because it allows us to excite and excite ourselves, as Arthur Schopenhauer teaches us. It helps us to enter our inner world, rediscover ourselves and live emotions that make us feel good.

What inspired you to write “Eternity”? Is there a personal story or a specific event behind the track?

Rotolo: A story, a lot of stories. Eternity is the love story of those who are forced to leave the other for work issues, etc. It tells the image of two lovers who spend a beautiful day at the shopping center of Casamassima and who must leave for a period of indefinite time. It is the story of a love at a distance with the promise to find itself as soon as possible“.

“Entrambe, because I have always been passionate about music. By chance and by Passion.”

How did you decide to merge the britpop genre with your musical style?

Rotolo: When I think of the britpop I immediately think of groups like the “Lunapop” and the “Oasis”, those beautiful, fresh, immediate listenings, which leave the mark and also act as torment, so in many of my songs including “Eternity” we find this musical genre.

The path and ideas

What is the message you would like to convey with Eternity? What do you experience when you listen and watch the video take with yourself?

Rotolo: Surely emotions: the emotion in seeing this very intimate scene, of a hug, of a greeting that leads to consider the fact that love even at a distance can exist. It is not the distance that makes love, but it is the value that gives itself to love.

Now we leave very easily, we feel so much about television experiences, but in everyday life we feel friends, relatives, relationships that end up also for distance: we overcome the distance with the promise, with the “Love Value” that is not only a mere feeling but it is a firm choice that is renewed daily to which we must pursue

How was the song received in Italy and abroad?

Rotolo: In Italy the reactions have definitely come from the Tarantino and Barese district. Thanks to my dear friend and collaborator Nicola Digregorio we managed to carry out this project. He in particular dealt with the dissemination of the song through various social channels, newspaper articles etc. To date the song holds over 5000 on Youtube also internationally for over two months in the summer of 2025, Eternity was in the top 10 of the most listened independent songs in Italy.

The song was also successful in Costa Rica.“

“Music is that channel that allows us to enter our inner world, so to rediscover and live the emotions that make us feel good, the beautiful emotions”

What were the musical influences that accompanied you along your way?

Rotolo: We talked about the English Britpop of the first decade of the 2000s. I want to emphasize among my influences the importance of the great singers of the past including Baglioni, Cremonini, Concato, Cristicchi. but also bands of the caliber of Guns N’ Roses and Metallica.

What can we expect from the next album “End to the end” and the cinema project we are talking about? Can you anticipate something?

Rotolo: Yes, then, “Fino alla Fine” is the conclusion of a triad (three albums): “Amore Eterno”, Journey of Return” and “Fino alla Fine” close a big circle compared to this great passion of mine. Telling love, the various facets of love. “Fino alla Fine” is the title of my third album, released in spring 2026 and will be anticipated by the video of a single from the album“.

Inspirations and references

What is the soundtrack of your professional personal journey?

Rotolo: There are so many, with affection, I would say “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King of 1962, brought to Italy in the far away with the title of Pregherò.“

Who would you like to thank for your professional personal journey? What are future projects?

Rotolo: Surely all my music masters and then clearly my friends and professionals who accompanied me on my path: I already mentioned Nicola Di Gregorio as a promoter, then Gianluca Gentilesca, a multi-instrumentalist who produced and arranged all the songs, Maria Domenica Colucci my Vocal Coach, and finally the sound Pasquale Aloia.
