Marcello Cirillo, singer and television host, is at the heart of this conversation on the theme: the music that accompanies the show. The dialogue retraces experiences, choices and reflections that emerged during the interview, leaving room for the guest’s voice.
When did your artistic career begin and what does music represent for you?
Cirillo: I started my artistic career at the end of the 1970s working in the various productions of the famous RCA record company and then in the pianobar trying to learn, with hard work and with evening sacrifice, the craft! Well music for me represents life in all senses both spiritual and material life! I live with music and I am grateful to music and gave me the chance to believe in positive values and thank you for educating my soul!

For many years you have formed with Antonio the duo Antonio-Marcello. What influence have they had duos and musical groups on the Italian audience, from younger to adult?
Cirillo: But I think talking about teaching is too much to be a boy band or a duo like us teaches first of all another vocal technique. A different way of singing is an anti-egoism form because you have to try to take a step back when the time of joining you trying to sum up your A with your partner or with your band. In fact, he recommends to my students of my school “The Sound Workshop” to experience choral music as a whole because he teaches a lot and is a metaphor of life
“Surely all these worlds radio, television, cinema and theater would live badly without music”
In Italy, the so-called talent shows (from X-Factor, The Voice to Friends) are being depopulated. Do you think these talent shows are a box of conformism or can they be a teaching subject for young artists who want to become a star?
Cirillo: Talents are a double-cut weapon give you great visibility; but I think too soon the whole part of the militancy of the experience that leads you to have the certainty of knowing how to do a job; while in talents paying humiliation sometimes you find out if you are able to do this job and the risk that the boys are betrayed in their dream not moment of great fragility, so it could lead to them to have a difficult future existence
In the talent “The Voice” we have witnessed the presence and victory of Sister Cristina: according to you music can join a fideistic attitude (of faith) and, at the same time, can transmit evangelical messages?
Cirillo: “Who sings and prays twice” as Saint Augustine says. And Sister Cristina knew, in a simple but very professional way, to send a message to young people very nice of joy in doing something you love. Every year I am a director, along with my colleague Demo Morselli, of a gospel show and I find this great spirituality inside a melody as a song can get a message: “Opening the mind, warming the heart Suggesting the reasonings”
“In fact, he recommends to my students of my school “The Sound Workshop” to experience choral music as a whole because he teaches a lot and is a metaphor for life”
In your experience at “Your Facts”, together with Giancarlo Magalli and Adriana Volpe, what bond did you observe between music, television, radio, cinema and theatre?
Cirillo: Surely all these worlds the radio, television, cinema and theater would live badly without music. I imagine film without soundtrack. So I would say that music is the glue of these arts that with its magic has managed to exalt, to emphasize an emotion!
What are your projects and who would like to thank you for your personal and professional journey?
Cirillo: I thank all those people who have believed in me who have given me the opportunity to be myself and also all the people who have hurt me because from suffering at times felt the feeling of rebirth and reconstruction
I conclude this interview by mentioning an answer that gave me our artist “Who sings and prays twice”. I believe that music is not just what we listen to and see the usual video clips, music is what within us. She's our best friend. It's our secret journal. If we are down, if we are sad or if we want to remove the melancholy there is the music that makes us live every day.
I believe that many artists, like our Marcello Cirillo, are grateful to the music because they live it and, above all, are the students of the subject before it makes them become singers.
