The beginnings and passion
When did you start your way to the world of acting?
Buono: I started neither very early nor very late... I approached the recitation towards 2000, at 15 years, and then embark on the various courses towards 17. after some show with amateur companies then decided to enroll in a higher-level school, where I graduated actor in 2005

Among all the characters you have interpreted, What is the one that represents you most and what characterizes it?
Buono: There are no characters that look like me, or at least sewn on me. I can tell you that one of the most beautiful roles I have interpreted, certainly it was the true story of Giorgio Ceccarelli, a lawyer who has crossed an incredible story of betrayal, prison, drugs, dismissal from his daughter and then finally find the deserved justice and victory against his former mother-in-law who feared him a legal trap for years.
Here's this drama aired on the Rai for sure is the most satisfying starring role.“
Do you prefer roles suitable for your person or away from your way of being?
Buono: I prefer all roles regardless. But among the options...I like the roles outside my person, because when I go to see me then...I imagine myself as I would have been in another dimension.
“In Italy we give little importance to this sector...but we have to get in the perspective that cinema and theater are not small niche art factories...but they must be big industries with products to export”
Why in the comic theatre, the “rice”, the joke is important? Can rice sometimes connect to a moment of drama?
Buono: The “rice” is part of everyday life. you can laugh for joy, for ilarity..but you can laugh also for stylist. therefore it is important in all its forms. Comicity, strangely I think it as the emotion that approaches more to the social drama of a person. At the theatre is like black..va well with everything, both in comedy and in drama.“
The public and the language of comedy
Pirandello, we all know, is one of the great dramatists of the world theatre that idealized the figure of the mask, the idea of feeling, humor; claiming that we actors recite the part dictated by society. Your theater, let's call it ironically "Goodness" is combined with the pyramidal conception of humor?
Buono: Pirandello is undoubtedly a character who has changed our way of acting in the theatre. After Goldoni, he has certainly dictated very important and modern dissemination times and content. I personally have an Eduardian setting (De Filippo) coming from a very visceral theatre. But I also learned the comedy as Eduardo taught. Fortunately, this legacy still lives in many actors who lend themselves to climb on a stage.
Among other things, it could not be different because I graduated in directing in 2010 with Giulio Baffi, the personal secretary of Eduardo De Filippo.“
What is Ciro Buono the figure of the actor? What are the objectives for the formation of an actor?
Buono: The actor is a warning for the people who look at him. Through him people reflect much more on the daily happenings, reflect on their “me” and often embody in the scene they are watching. The formation of the actor is made of personal experiences lived and indirect experiences that he looked at and lived from the outside, bringing them to himself at the moment when he serves on stage or in front of a camera.
The actor is constantly training...probably his training ends up about 70 years.... (if you still camp with salaries)“
“At the theatre is like black..va well with everything, both in comedy and in drama”
How would you like to see the future of theatre and cinema today?
Buono: I'd like to see him flourishing... exactly how the American one is florent. In Italy we give little importance to this sector...but we have to get in the perspective that cinema and theatre are not small niche art factories...but they must be big industries with products to export.“
On November 2, 2020 we lost the master Gigi Proietti. What do you remember about him? What was your last memory? What has lost the world of theatre with Gigi Proietti?
Buono: My mom... how much I would have liked to be her student. I don’t hide myself.. but I cried exactly the same way that I cried another great like Maradona. Gigi Proietti was a real show man... he made theater, made cinema, taught, he was dubbing...cantante.... What didn't he do? He's gonna miss a genius like him. Perhaps perhaps a herd I see him in Pierfrancesco Favino.“
Inspirations and references
What are the models you have inspired to become an artist? What is the soundtrack of your professional personal journey?
Buono: I don't have any precise patterns that I've inspired. But perhaps one of all I can thank him, because after I met him and met him every time, he gave me the strength and happiness to move on. Vincenzo Salemme. With him I often relate to him and every time I met him I remember the syparietti created among us.”
Who would you like to thank for your professional personal journey? What will your future projects be?
Buono: Well, I hope my artistic career is still very long and satisfying. I really don’t feel like thanking a person in particular...but I could thank the environment in which I grew up...that is, the city of Naples that with its common people and historical places considered open-air theater, have always given me important ideas of interpretation of ideas to be brought back to the stage.
My future projects?...Well try to tell me maybe in some TV drama with some characters to interpret that maybe give me more notoriety, and give roles and stories to all Italians.“
