“Maybe she will return/my life will return/dressed with words and memories/you promise me and when she arrives without stain and age/of this eternity/we will be us/ Diamonds.” Yes, we are diamonds because we can remember our past and face our present and future as diamonds because we are indissolubly attacked by a universal power that are love and courage to face every obstacle of everyday life.
Ferzan Ozpetek manages to amaze us once again, with his genius, to employ women as “the diamond tip”, every woman is an incisive and effective member who wins on everything with their own fragility and emotions.
As Bianca says, one of the protagonists (Vanessa Scalera), "we are diamonds, because we can interpret one's own role that is set in real life, because we become part of ourselves." With these words, today’s Ozpetek, which in part takes inspiration from the author and theatrical director of the 20th century Henrik Ibsen of “Home House”, highlights the sensitivity, elegance, harmony and women’s union, addressing very current issues such as the fight against anorexia and bullying, the domestic violence of women, the feeling of the death of their child and that shelters in difficult love.
All these arguments make Ozpetek an exemplary director today.
